Life on the Spectrum
Autism Spectrum creates a unique way of seeing the world. Autism is a way of life, a way of thought and a way of being. This uniqueness needs a certain type of learning environment in order to bring out the gifts and strengths in the individuals with Autism. Each child has a world of sensory, interest and dreams that often go unknown and overlooked in the quest of getting them to be like thier peers, adapt to the stimulus of the modern day classroom or learn the life and social skills for independent living.
The Edward Pierce Center for Autism is a 501c(3) nonprofit founded by Tracy Pierce. Tracy Pierce is a Marine Veteran, pursuing a PhD, a certified Texas Teacher, a Professor at Tarrant County Community College and is proud to have Autism. After her son was diagnosed with Autism, she saw the gaps in public schools, the current therapies and services offered in the community. This led her to create nonprofit dedicated on closing the gaps. The founder holds a high priority of maintaining a positive experience for the parents and the child as they discover the world through their child's eyes.
